Colorado Avalanche vs Dallas Stars Prediction, Picks & Props: nHL October 14th, 2026

I'll keep it 100 with you all. I did not plan to do a write up for any of the NHL action on today's slate. There's only two games tonight and I thought I'd "refresh" after a good Frozen Frenzy last night.

However, just when I thought I was out, THEY PULL ME BACK IN! I ended up liking enough with tonight's rematch from last night between the Avalanche and the Stars!

Here's my picks for tonight's Avalanche/Stars game:

Avalanche 60 Minute Moneyline (+110 Bet365)

DAL Projected Goalie: Casey DeSmith (0-1-0, .923 SV%, 2.06 GAA)
COL Projected Goalie: Scott Wedgewood (1-0-0, .897 SV%, 3.00 GAA)

The Avalanche are one of the hottest offenses to begin this still young season. Along with the Oilers, they are averaging 4.83 goals forced on the year. This team knows how to put pucks on net and score goals.

The Stars do not have the same firepower as the Avs. Their offense is averaging only 2.17 goals per game. However, their defense has been stellar thus far as they've giving up only 1.67 goals per game.

This game will more than likely play out very similarly to last night. I see it being a TIGHT game through out, but the Avalanche coming out on top.

Because of the back-to-back, both back up goalies will most likely be in the nets. Both are solid options for their teams, and I might lean DeSmith a little bit because Wedgewood did give up three goals to Calgary.

I'd personally play this as the 60 minute moneyline for the plus money, but you could play regular moneyline at down to -150 while wagering 1.5 units.

Nathan MacKinnon 2+ Points (+130 FanDuel)

So, I think Canada might still be pissed off about losing the Olympics to the USA... I say that because three of the Top Five points leaders in the NHL are either: 1) members of that losing Canada team (MacKinnon and McDavid) or 2) someone who was LEFT OFF that losing Canada team (Bouchard).

MacKinnon has been on a tear to begin this season for the Avs. He has twelve points thus far and is averaging two points per game.

The top line for Colorado is a powerhouse for offense. They lead all forward lines for the Avalanche in scoring as they've a 77%hit rate on goals (Goal%) and 2.6 xGoals For.

For Dallas, their top line leads their forward lines with 1.6 xGoals Against. The Avalanche top line will be on the prowl again tonight, and Nathan MacKinnon will be in the middle of that action.

Miro Heiskanen 1+ Point (-128 Caesars)

I wanted to find something for the people looking for a Dallas prop instead of a third Colorado prop.

Miro Heiskanen sits in the top three in points scored this season on this Stars team. Rantanen, Robertson, and Miro are the leaders in the clubhouse for the Stars in points.

Surprisingly,, the Avalanches top forward line have the highest XGoals Against at 1.5. With might not seem like much, but Colorado does get scored on too at times. They aren't perfect!

Also, the Heiskanen-Lindell defensive pairing trailing only the Harley-Lundkvist pairing in XGoals For on the team for Dallas. Heiskanen-Lindell have a 2.7 XGoals For and have a 75%hit rate on goals (Goal%) .

If you're looking for a Stars prop, I'd say Miro Heiskanen is you're guy!
